 Free H1N1 vaccinations for priority groups. Click here for more information in English and Spanish. Governor David A. Paterson today announced that, effective immediately, health care providers may make the H1N1 flu vaccine available to all New Yorkers who want the vaccine, including those who are not in priority groups established by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The announcement applies to all providers, including local health departments with vaccine clinics scheduled for this weekend.
The Farmingdale High School marching band is one of 45 bands from Nassau and Suffolk Counties being showcased at the 47th annual Newsday Marching Band Festival on Long Island. Farmingdale has participated for more than 20 years. The festival is being held at Hofstra University in Hempstead from October 20-22. Click on the play button to watch the videos.

Five groups - Joan Drewes' Chorus at Saltzman, Erica Hartmann's Band at Woodward, Andy Segale's Wind Ensemble at Howitt, and Michael Lee's High School Orchestra and High School Chamber Orchestra earned Gold .
In addition, Jen Tower's band at Saltzman, Therese Mannino's orchestra at Woodward and Gina Pellettiere's High School Wind Ensemble earned Gold with Distinction !
Did You Know? ..... The Farmingdale High School science research students have been chosen as a winner in the Lexus Eco Challenge for their plan to restore and maintain the ecosystem in the Massapequa Preserve.
Did You Know? ..... Northside students and staff participated for the first time in the International Walk to School Day. Encouraged by members of the school's Wellness Committee, more than 90 families, many of whom normally drive their children to school, chose to join in this effort and walked with their children instead.

Farmingdale art students entered the New York State Olympics of the Visual Arts (OVA) in Saratoga, a competition involving brainstorming, problem solving and original creative solutions. The team from Farmingdale High School won second place in Fashion, while in the middle school competition, Howitt art students earned third place in Painting and first place in Photography.
